Personality: In life, she was a cheerful soul who wanted nothing more than to preserve and perfect the D.E.S. system. She believed the power of this energy held the key to save lives, and wished it has existed sooner. Deep down, she still mourned the death of her fiancée and wanted nothing more than to bring him back somehow. She was always dedicated and driven, and that has been preserved, but now she is also filled with hatred towards the world.

Biography: Xana was a scientist and design engineer for the D.E.S. At a youthful age, she became engaged to a man she considered her soul mate. She loved him and he felt the same. They did everything they could together, but the man had a terminal illness. He wanted to spend the time he had left with her, but the time he had was shorter than expected… He died of his illness and all Xana could do was watch him wither into lifelessness. When the D.E.S. was discovered, Xana was the first to try and use her knowledge and skills to make effective use of that energy. Due in part to her designs, the D.E.S. made medical breakthroughs that cured previously incurable diseases. If this power could save lives, maybe it could be powerful enough to restore them… it was a thought she always had deep down.

During the battle between the Sabres and the Guardians, Xana heard a voice. It urged her to go to the light emitted from the D.E.S. The voice told her that it could give her all the answers of life and death if she sought them strongly enough. A combination of her deep-seated desperation and her own scientific curiosity led her to reach out her hand towards the D.E.S. and it reacted. The result created a blinding light that caused her to disappear and this same light created evolutions in Duel Monsters.

Xana now hears the voice of Yubel, her long time Ace Duel Monsters Card, along with another… These voices tell her the same thing… “The Signer Dragons and Duel Dragons are the key to life and death. The battle of deities will lead to the final truth of light and darkness.” With only this in her mind, she battles special duelists with these special dragons.
